A

Acid-free

Refers to papers that are made with an alkaline pulp, usually with calcium carbonate added. Acids contribute to the deterioration of paper and therefore of prints.

Imposition

The layout of pages on a printed sheet so that they are in the correct order when the sheet is folded.

Vignette

An illustration where the background gradually fades away until it blends into the unprinted paper.
